Hi everyone,
It's hard to believe it's the last week of Term 2! Today we spent most of our time wrapping up unfinished work.

Hopefully everyone has received the letter regarding student lead conferences. The grade 5 conferences will take place on March 18 and the grade 4 conferences will take place on the 19th of March. For those of you who are unfamiliar with student lead conferences, they put your child in charge of demonstrating their learning to you. Students will introduce you and your family to what they are learning and how they are learning. This sharing gives them a sense of importance by communicating to you, what they have learned. For the past 2 years, my classes have put on student lead conferences for the second reporting period. On both occasions, parents and students have left the evenings filled with pride. Our format is 4 students with parents in the room for 1/2, it may take more or less time, but this gives the students time to go through their presentation with you. We hope everyone can join us. We look forward to seeing you there. (And grade 5 parents and students can come on Thursday if Wednesday does not work.
Potlatch: Friday at 9:30 the grade 4 students will participating in a potlatch organized by Mrs. Parsloe. Students have been working very hard on masks, banners, learning songs and writing fables. We hope you can join us. During the potlatch grade 5 students and Ms. Manzini will be working on their Healthy Living Inquiry and looking deeper in to their questions. Another great day in the Draganzini classroom! Here's what happened today:
Language Arts: Students continued working on their superhero stories. Good copies are due tomorrow! Math: We did some more work with division. Because there is a substantial amount of homework for L.A., there will be no math homework :-) Art: Students started painting their masks today. They are looking great! Lots of imagination in this room. Here are a few pictures of the progress so far: L.A.: students started planning their graphic novels today. Plans are due on Monday! Math: We continued working on division. There is homework ;) Grade 4: Grade 5:
Good day everyone.
We have some important info: Grade 5 students are curling on Friday. Please remember to bring clean shoes and warm clothes and gloves. Grade 4 students need their Big House Medical forms returned by tomorrow. (both SD 48 and the Big House have their own forms.) A form came home inform you about the type of clothes/equipment recommended for the trip. Purdy chocolate orders were due yesterday. Ms. Draganov was away yesterday, so Ms. Manzini was in. Students have been working on a Superhero story due today and aspects of our slow going novel study. (alot of interference from FSA testing). The paper mache masks for the potlatch and the superhero or fable characters are coming along nicely. Please ensure your child has a pair of gym shoes at school, with the beautiful weather students are wearing outdoor shoes in the gym and all the dirt leaves the gym slippery. |
